Ramona in mreža svobode

Novi knjižni izdaji: Ramona v angleškem in španskem jeziku

[ENGLISH BELOW]

Ramona and the Net of Freedom in Ramona y la red de la libertad

"Naznanjamo izzid dveh prevodov knjige Ramona in mreža svobode*. S tem zgodbo želimo narediti dostopno širši mednarodni publiki mladih bralcev in bralk ter njihovim staršem.

Knjigi sta tokrat zasnovani interaktivno kot pobarvanka. Podobe in besedilo se razvijajo od krutih prizorov trpljenja do upora, svetlobe in igrivosti v sedanjosti in prihodnosti.

Izid knjige sta omogočila samoorganizirana založba Acerbic distibution in Tiskarna OF.

Book: Ramona and the Net of Freedom in Ramona y la red de la libertad

A year and a half ago, an expedition from local geography gave a copy of a book Ramona in mreža svobode during a visit to Zapatista communities in Chiapas. On that occasion a somewhat rushed translation of the text into Castillian was prepared so that the community could read it. This opened up a great opportunity and it became feasible that with a little bit of extra enthusiasm it would be possible to publish a proper Castillan translation of the book. This indeed happened, even more, it was accompanied also by a new edition in English. Both editions were published in May 2025 and were accompanied with the following words from the creative team:

*We announce the publication of two translations of Ramona in mreža svobode. This story of the Zapatista struggle for children is now written in English and Mexican-Castillian. This is to make the story accessible to a wider international audience of young readers and their parents. This time, the books are designed interactively as a colouring book. The images an text evolve from cruel scenes of suffering to rebellion, light and playfulness in the present and in the future.

The original writing was done through a collective process of creating a performance for children. The idea for it was born during the visit of a Zapatista delegation in September 2021. The creative group called prstovsto felt it was important to pass on the knowledge of the Zapatistas and the imagination of a possible different world to the children. Through translation, we hope that the idea of collective rebellion and a different way of organising society the wind will carry like dandelion seeds across the world among the present and future generations who are co-creating it, to bring hope and inspiration.

We also invite enthusiastic translators of other languages to publish Ramona in their local language.*

The publication of the book itself is made possible by the self-organised publishing Acerbic distribution and the OF Printing House.
